FANCY WORDS TO LEARN

Artificial Structure:
This is the kind of ‘map’ that only makes sense to the map maker. Everybody else gets lost.

Civilian Maintenance: The kinds of tasks that are executed by normal people (no magic required).

Confidence:
The knowledge that neither heavy traffic nor 11-year-old hackers will take my business down (today).

Cross-Media Drivers:
When an IM that tells you to look at the funnies because Snoopy is sending an email to Beetle Bailey about something he should watch on webTV.

Development Community:
The folks who used to be 11-year-old hackers.

Elegant Construction:
A fancy term for the kind of construction that users can’t see. We’d like to see more of it.

Focus:
That quality that has to do with crafting a marketing message for a defined market (doh.)

Global Transactability:
The ability to buy French pastries from French chefs using French words and French money.

Information Paths:
The minimal path that avoids the unelected loop.

Media Glue: Consistent (even if awful) branding in commercials, banners, billboards, and (yikes) jingles.

Minimal Pathing: Very little need to deal with convoluted navigation (a straight line).

Unelected Loop:
That left turn that you did not think you made that took you in a big circle where you ended up looking at the back of your head.

World Appropriate:
Understandable by non-White, non-American, non-English Speaking, non-Guys
